Collection: Cosmic Diablerie: Works Illustrated by Frank C. Papé

A collection of works published by John Lane in the 1920s and 1930s, featuring artwork by beloved neo-Gothic illustrator Frank C. Papé. Later known for his harsh silhouettes, luminous saints, laughing devils, and the occasional flash of the depraved, Papé's career began after studying at the Slade School of Fine Art, which he had left by 1904. He produced an immense volume of work over the next six decades, but he is most highly regarded for the projects he worked on with John Lane at The Bodley Head. Papé was responsible for re-popularising the works of Anatole France with his mesmerising artwork, and brought the work of comic fantasy author James Branch Cabell to the forefront of illustrated publications.

In celebration of Papé's work, Wuthering Books is pleased to present a selection of publications that showcase the best of this wonderful, diversely talented artist.
