A smart copy of Aesop's Fables, hard to find in its original dust jacket, with 48 colour plate illustrations by Harry Rountree. The Greek storyteller Aesop supposedly lived on the island of Samos at some point between 620 and 564 BCE. None of his stories have survived in written form, but their wide spread across Europe and western Asia has kept them alive over millennia.

This copy is in good to very good condition with a very good unclipped jacket. The boards are a little tanned at the edges, some pages have creases or small chips to around the peripheries, and light foxing in places throughout. The jacket has a few small creases, light spotting and some pulling at the ends. Generally tightly bound in blue cloth with front titles, covered with an illustrated dust jacket and removeable protective sleeve. 22 x 15.5 cm. Pp. [ix], x, 340, [4].
