First edition, second printing. A landmark publication consisting of the first collected works of the Swiss biomechanical artist H. R. Giger, who was responsible for creating the xenomorph from Ridley Scott's Alien, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 1977. In 1977, early works from this book were sent to Scott who then hired the artist to design his famous monster and work on set alterations. The book takes inspiration from the Lovecraftian grimoire of the same name.
