Reprint. A very scarce 1973 reprint of Sikes' book on Welsh folklore, which was originally published in 1880. A journalist by reade, Sikes moved from New York to Europe and was then appointed US Consul at Cardiff, Wales. While appointed there, he became infatuated with local tradition, and wrote this particular title soon after. The reprint includes the first edition's illustrations by T. H. Thomas.
Both book and jacket in very good condition with slight wrinkling to the jacket in places, light handling marks, inner flaps a little tanned. Some very light marks along the block edge but generally very clean. Bound in red cloth with a green illustrated dust jacket. 22.5 x 14 cm. Pp. xvi, 412
