The Heather Edition. Scarce. A charming copy of Charlotte Bronte's second novel, which follows two women from different backgrounds as they navigate romance, and grapple with women's place in society. The novel is set in Yorkshire during a time of economic depression following the Napoleonic war. Shirley has been praised for its fine balancing of commentaries, sharing perspectives of the challenges of industrialisation from women in two very different social situations.
