1929 Emily Bronte by Charles Simpson

First edition. A very important biographical title concerning Emily Bronte, the author of Wuthering Heights. Simpson's research revealed new insights into Emily's life, and details about her writing that had never before been published. This title was the first to offer researched information about Emily's plans to write a second novel before her death, and was the first to offer access to Emily's personal belongings, including her writing desk. Scarce in this condition with its original dust jacket. This item also holds a newspaper clipping from 1949, which contains an article on Higher Withens and other environmental inspirations for Wuthering Heights.

In very good condition with some light staining to the boards, a tanned half-title, light foxing to the preliminaries and block edge, and general handling wear. Dust jacket tanned at the spine and edges, spine also marked with light stains, a couple of very small closed tears to rear panel, flaps intact.
