A delightful 1920s fairy tale book with seven colour plates by the legendary French artist Edmund Dulac, sold here at a significantly reduced rate due to condition points. This publication features some of Andersen's most well known fairy tales such as The Mermaid and The Emperor's New Clothes, accompanied by beautiful plates in Dulac's whimsical signature style.
In good condition with a large inscription to the front pastedown, further inscriptions to the front free endpaper, light gapping to early gutters (holding well), light foxing to some pages and plates, and at least four pages with significant colour pencil marks from a previous owner. This copy has retained its scarce original dust jacket. Bound in red cloth with black stamped design, covered with a blue dust jacket with a central Dulac plate and black titles. 24 x 16 cm. Pp.
