Scarce 1914 impression. Reprint of Lang's Lilac Fairy Book, published as part of his famous and highly collectable Fairy Book series. The Lilac Fairy Book was originally published just four years earlier in 1910, and features mostly fairy stories from northern and western Europe. Some translations were done by Lang's wife, Leonora Blanche Alleyne, who was a gifted linguist and researcher. Illustrations by Henry Ford.
In good condition with a severely sunned spine, which has lost its gilt detailing. Spine ends rubbed with a little loss to the head, corners gently bumped, endpapers and prelims foxed. Ink inscription to front free endpaper. Gutters visible in a couple of places but all holding well. Bound in the publisher's original purple cloth with blind-stampedfront board. 18.5 x 12 cm. Pp.
