Scarce. New impression. A 1913 reprint of Lang's Violet Fairy Book, published as part of his famous and highly collectable Fairy Book series. The Violet Fairy Book was originally published in 1901 and features stunning illustrations by the celebrated artist Henry Ford. There are stories about haunted forests, treasure chests, and legendary dragon-slayings amongst other classic folk tales.
In good condition with a significantly sunned spine, light abrasion to the rear board, the binding starting at the contents pages (holding for now), general edge wear, and light foxing to preliminaries. Pages are cleaner and brighter than usually seen. Firmly bound in the original decorative purple cloth with blind-stamped fairies to the front board, gilt details to the spine, top edge gilt. 18.5 x 12.5 cm. Pp. [vii] xii, 388.
