First edition thus, with content collected from previous publications into a single illustrated edition. Features an introduction with biographical notes, colour illustrated frontispiece and title page, and a further 46 illustrations by Royal Academy artist F. D. Bedford. The Taylor sisters were from a celebrated family of creatives, with Jane being most well-known for writing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' in the early 1800s. This edition is very hard to find in its original dust jacket.
In very good plus condition with very good dust jacket. The boards are clean and square with bright gilt details, internally very clean and firmly bound. Dust jacket unclipped, a little creased and browned at the spine and flap edges. Edge block slightly darkened on top. Bound in blue cloth with elaborate colour and gilt-stamped design to front and spine. Dust jacket khaki paper with black titles and repeat design. Generally, a very attractive copy. 21.5 x 15 cm. xl, pp. 414.
