Scarce. A rather lovely first edition, second edition copy of the Second Jungle Book, Kipling's follow-up project to the immensely popular first installment which was famously adapted by Disney in 1967. This impression was printed just a month after the first. Sold at a reduced rate due to some small condition issues.
Generally very good, some stains and discolouration to the cloth, an ink inscription to the forward blanks, foxed preliminaries, general handling and shelf wear. Bound in the original publisher's cloth with a very striking gilt cobra to the front board, gilt titles to the spine, black endpapers with previous owner's blind stamp, all edges gilt. Includes a Victorian hymn leaflet used as a bookmark. 19 x 12 cm. Pp. [vii], 240.
