The works of Poet Laureate and personal favourite poet of Queen Victoria, Alfred Lord Tennyson. Tennyson served as Laureate from 1850 until his death in 1892, making him the dominant poetical voice of the Victorian era. This edition was published just over halfway through his time as Laureate, meaning some of his later works have not been included.
In good plus condition with significant sunning to the spine and upper board portions, light foxing and handling marks, rubbed corners and edges. Bookplate to the front pastedown and outer gilt motif confirms the book was awarded to a student at Charing Cross Medical School. Fully bound in peacock green calf leather with raised spine bands, gilt compartments and a beige title label to the spine. Marbled endpapers, marbled edges and gilt edge dentelles. 25 x 18.5 cm.
