This edition is illustrated with 180 black and white engravings created through the partnership of a celebrated artist, John Gilbert, and master engravers The Brothers Dalziel.
In good to very good condition with significant sunning to the spine and portions of the boards, lightly rubbed edges and spine ends, a bookplate to the front pastedown, and lightly foxed preliminaries. Prize binding from Charing Cross Medical School. Fully bound in brick red calf leather by Bickers with a gilt central motif to the front board, raised spine bands with gilt compartments and title label, marbled edges and endpapers, gilt dentelles. 23 x 16.5 cm.
