An uncommon leather-bound copy of Heads of the People, a collection of sketches on mid-Victorian English society to which William Makepeace Thackeray contributed during his early years as a writer. Essays written by several prominent authors of the time. This is the main volume - there is also a smaller companion volume which is much easier to source. Featuring fabulous etchings by Kenny Meadows, engraved by Orrin Smith.
In very good condition with a little gapping to gutters at title, rubbed boards and corners, pages generally clean with one or two small spots. Firmly bound in full dark brown diced calf leather with gilt ornamentation and a title label between raised spine bands. 21 x 14 cm. vi, pp. 385.
