A handsome book of Common Prayer, the supplementary Christian service book used by the Church of England and associated branches which contains the rites and outlines for general worship. This delightful binding is from 1839, the year after Queen Victoria's coronation.
In very good condition with gently bumped corners, light gaping to the lower front board gutter, the odd small spot to preliminary pages. Generally clean pages. Bound in a typically early-Victorian calf binding with simple gilt decorations to both boards and spine compartments. Gilt lettering directly stamped to the spine, double line board frame, gilt edge dentelles, yellow endpapers, fully gilt edges. 14.5 x 8 cm. Unpaginated, Pp. [528].
