A late Georgian era collection of poetry by William Cowper, one of the foremost poets of the 18th century. Cowper was a celebrated hymnwriter whose take on nature poetry set the foundations for the later Romantic movement. This particular copy is from 1830, shortly following the end of the official Regency era.
In good condition with the front hinge cracked, inscriptions to the pastedown, endpapers and upper title page, corners gently bumped, general light marks to boards, a couple of pages rounded, chipped or tanned at edges. Still holding well. Bound in a handsome diced tan calf with gilt spine compartments and title label with gilt lettering. Roughly pocket size, 13.5 x 8 cm. Pp. [v], xxiv, 451, single catalogue page.
