First edition. A fascinating little magazine from the Georgian era created by Madam Leprince de Beaumont, a French moral educator and writer who is most well known for adapting Beauty and the Beast into its most popular form. This particular publication was created with the sole purpose of ensuring that teenage girls and young women developed a strict moral code of conduct. It corrects improper behavior and teaches polite manners, thinking, and speech accorting to distinct personalities, and does so in the form of a dialogue between a governess and her students.
